Jugendliche leiden deutlich unter Corona-Pandemie

Laut einer Grazer Studie haben junge Menschen mit den Belastungen der Pandemie am meisten zu kämpfen. Strategien zur Krisenbewältigung werden daher immer wichtiger.

Der richtige Umgang mit Krisen

Wie eine aktuelle Familienstudie der Stadt Graz belegt, sind Kinder, Jugendliche und Eltern von den Auswirkungen der Corona-Pandemie besonders stark betroffen. Vor allem die Zunahme an pathologischen Angst- und Depressionssymptomen sowie das veränderte Essverhalten und die suchtähnliche Nutzung digitaler Medien von jungen Menschen seien „besorgniserregend“.

Wesentliche Ergebnisse der Studie:

  • Als größte Belastung nannte ein Großteil der befragten Personen, „das Gefühl, dass die Pandemie kein Ende nimmt“.
  • Um den Alltag in der Pandemie leichter bewältigen zu können, wird vermehrt auf soziale Ressourcen (Kontakt mit anderen Menschen, gute Tagessstruktur und Bewegungsangebote) zurückgegriffen.
  • Eltern übernehmen in der Erziehungsarbeit mehr Verantwortung. Vor allem Väter nehmen eine bedeutendere Rolle in der Erziehung der Kinder ein.
  • Jugendliche leiden unter der Pandemie am meisten.

Fertigkeiten wie Umgang mit Stress und Gefühlen sowie die Fähigkeiten, Entscheidungen zu treffen und Probleme zu lösen sind Beispiele für Lebenskompetenzen.

In der Corona-Krise hat sich gezeigt, wie wichtig es ist, eine Bandbreite an Bewältigungsstrategien zur Verfügung zu haben, auf die man in schwierigen Situationen zurückgreifen kann. Ohne persönliche oder soziale Ressourcen zum Abbau von Belastungen ist der Griff zu Alkohol und Tabak oder der Konsum von Medien oft verführerisch einfach.

Eine Vielfalt an Entspannungsmöglichkeiten und Freizeitaktivitäten zum Aufladen der Energiereserven hingegen kann nicht nur ein Schutzfaktor vor einer Suchtentwicklung sein, sondern auch zur Bewältigung von Krisen entscheidend beitragen.
