Digitale Medien bieten eine Vielzahl an Möglichkeiten und sind fixer Bestandteil unseres Alltags. Ihre Faszination und Omnipräsenz bergen aber auch das Risiko, ein Suchtverhalten zu entwickeln.

Über Medien reden

Der Medienkonsum von Kindern und Jugendlichen ist immer wieder eine pädagogische Herausforderung. Fragen wie: „Welche Medieninhalte sind schädlich für Kinder?“ und „Wie lange soll ich mein Kind fernsehen lassen?“ sind Dauerbrenner. Dazu kommt die ständige Verfügbarkeit von Smartphones sowie das große Angebot an Apps und Onlinespielen.

„Neue“ Medien haben viele gute Seiten, bergen aber auch Risiken und Gefahren. Dies bedeutet für Eltern und Bezugspersonen eine große Verantwortung, gilt es doch eine kritische und kompetente Mediennutzung vorzuleben und Kinder dabei zu begleiten, eigene Medienkompetenz zu erlangen.

Um den steigenden Herausforderungen im Bereich der Mediennutzung Rechnung zu tragen, hat VIVID Medienkompetenz zum Schwerpunktthema gemacht. Bestehende Angebote – Elternvorträge, Medienkompetenz-Workshops in Volksschulen, Workshops zum Thema Online-Gaming für Jugendliche – wurden ausgeweitet und auf den neuesten Stand gebracht. Die Elternbroschüre „Über Medien reden – Was Eltern wissen sollten“ wurde ebenfalls aktualisiert und kann von Eltern entweder als Download oder Printausgabe genutzt werden.

2022 beschäftigen sich 17 Prozent aller von VIVID durchgeführten Veranstaltungen mit dem Schwerpunktthema Medienkompetenz. 1189 Schüler*innen konnten im Rahmen von Workshops zum Thema Medienkompetenz sensibilisiert werden. 561 Multiplikator*innen (Pädagog*innen, Sozialarbeiter*innen, Tageseltern, Mitarbeiter*innen in der Jugendarbeit) konnten in Seminaren zum Thema suchtgefährdete Internetnutzung weitergebildet werden.
