Tabakindustrie macht Gesundheitsberufen Angebote

Die Tabakindustrie lebt davon, dass Menschen süchtig sind. Dies ist ihr legales Geschäftskonzept. Nun scheinen Gesundheitsberufe wie Ärztinnen und Ärzte eine besondere Zielgruppe der Tabakindustrie zu sein.

„Achtung, Tabakindustrie!“ So titelt das „Aktionsbündnis Nichtrauchen“ seine Warnung vor Praktiken der Tabakindustrie, mit Gesundheitsberufen und Institutionen des Gesundheitswesens kooperieren zu wollen. Gesundheitsberufe scheinen derzeit eine besondere Zielgruppe der Tabakindustrie zu sein. Das berichten mehrere internationale Netzwerke, unter anderem ABNR und Tobacco Tactics.

So bekamen im Jahr 2021 in Deutschland mehrere Kliniken Angebote eines Tabakkonzerns: Dieser wolle Tabakentwöhnung in der betrieblichen Gesundheitsförderung anbieten. Das vorgelegte Konzept inkludierte auch eine proaktive Information an die Aufhörwilligen über den Umstieg von Zigarette auf E-Zigarette oder Tabakerhitzer unter dem Schlagwort „Schadensminimierung“.

Auch für Studien will man mit Gesundheitsberufen zusammenarbeiten. So berichtet das British Medical Journal, dass im August 2021 Ärztinnen und Ärzte zur Teilnahme an einer Studie rekrutiert wurden, die sich mit „Tabakentwöhnung und der Reduzierung von Tabakschäden in der ganzen Welt“ befassen solle. Auch für das zugehörige „Expert Advisory Bord“ suchte man Ärzt*innen. Finanziert wird die Studie von der „Foundation for a Smokefree World” (FSFW). Auf den ersten Blick scheint dies neutral. Die FSFW wird jedoch von Philip Morris finanziert und ist insofern der Tabakindustrie zuzurechnen.

Es ist davon auszugehen, dass auch Studien wie diese zwar  Tabakprodukten wie konventionellen Zigaretten kritisch gegenüberstehen, im Gegenzug jedoch die Strategie der Schadensminimierung durch E-Zigaretten unterstützen.
