Zwei Jahre seit Rauchverbot und viel Zustimmung

Eine steirische Befragung zeigt: 93,5 Prozent sind für ein Rauchverbot in der Gastronomie. Hohe Zustimmung gibt es auch zur klaren Regelung. Nur knapp jede*r Zehnte findet, auch die alte Regelung habe funktioniert. Es zeigt sich auch ein leichter Trend zu weniger Konsum.

Schutz von Gästen und Personal wichtig

Zwei Jahre nach Einführung rauchfreier Innenräume in der Gastronomie am 1. November 2019 zieht eine Befragung in der Steiermark Bilanz: Das Rauchverbot wird von der Bevölkerung sehr gut akzeptiert. 93,5 Prozent sind „uneingeschränkt“ oder „eher“ für ein absolutes Rauchverbot in der Gastronomie. Der Zuspruch ist bei den Nicht-Raucher*innen und Ex-Raucher*innen deutlich höher (97,3 Prozent), aber auch bei den Raucher*innen mit 83,0 Prozent sehr hoch.

Befragt nach Meinungen zum Rauchverbot, zeigt sich, dass der Schutz von Gästen (87,9 Prozent) und Personal (84,7 Prozent) und das Wegfallen des unangenhemen Geruchs (85,6 Prozent) eine große Rolle spielen und als „gut“ eingeschätzt werden. Auch sehr viele, nämlich 84,8 Prozent befürworten es, dass es „nun eine klare Regelung gibt“. Im Gegenzug finden 9,2 Prozent, die alte Regelung mit getrennten Bereichen habe gut funktioniert. 1,6 Prozent finden rauchfreie Gastronomie „genussfeindlich“.

Befragt nach ihrem eigenen Rauchverhalten, geben 67 Prozent an, gleich viel wie vor der Einführung des Rauchverbots in der Gastronomie zu rauchen. 2 Prozent rauchen nun mehr, 26 Prozent weniger. 16 Prozent hatten seit der Einführung rauchfreier Gastronomie aufgehört zu rauchen, wovon 6 Prozent wieder angefangen haben. Es zeigt sich also ein leichter Trend zu weniger Konsum.

Die Befragung wurde von der Universität Graz in Kooperation mit VIVID – Fachstelle für Suchtprävention im zweiten Quartal 2021 in der Steiermark durchgeführt.

In einer österreichweiten Befragung waren im Jahr 2019 kurz vor der Einführung 57,9 Prozent für rauchfreie Gastronomie.
