Passivrauch von E-Zigaretten

Zwar geben E-Zigaretten im Gegensatz zu Tabakzigaretten zwischen den Zügen keinen Passivrauch ab, doch auch sie belasten die Raumluft mit krebserregenden Partikeln, Nikotin und anderen Substanzen in Form von „kaltem Rauch“.

Auch Passivrauch von E-Zigaretten gesundheitsschädlich

Tabakzigaretten geben, sobald sie brennen, ständig Passivrauch an die Luft ab. Dies geschieht auch zwischen den Zügen, also wenn der Rauchende einen Teil des Rauchs ausatmet. Das ist bei E-Zigaretten anders: Sie geben zwischen den Zügen keinen Passivrauch ab. Der Passivrauch entsteht hier nur durch die Ausatmung. Er wird bei E-Zigaretten auch „Aerosol“ genannt, weil er weniger feste Partikel beinhaltet als Tabakrauch.

Trotzdem belastet auch der Konsum von E-Zigaretten und Tabakerhitzern die Raumluft. Denn durch den Konsum von E-Zigaretten gelangen Partikel, Nikotin und andere Substanzen in die Raumluft. Darunter sind auch Krebs erzeugende Substanzen. Die Belastung durch E-Zigaretten ist wahrscheinlich deutlich geringer als durch Tabakrauch, aber sie ist eindeutig vorhanden und bedenklich. Die langfristigen Folgen sind derzeit unbekannt. Nikotin lagert sich auf Oberflächen ab und bleibt dort auch noch, nachdem der Vorgang des Dampfens vorbei ist. Das nennt man „Kalter Rauch“.

Wer in einem Raum ist, in dem E-Zigarette konsumiert wurde, atmet das abgegebene Aerosol ein. Besonders für Menschen in sensiblen Lebensphasen – etwa Kinder und Menschen mit Vorerkrankungen – kann die Schadstoffbelastung durch E-Zigaretten schädlich sein.

Gesundheitsgefährdung nicht auszuschließen

Eine Gesundheitsgefährdung ist mit großer Wahrscheinlichkeit geringer als durch Tabakzigaretten, aber sie ist nicht auszuschließen bzw. wahrscheinlich. Ihr genaues Ausmaß ist noch unbekannt. E-Zigaretten sollten daher nicht in geschlossenen Räumen in Anwesenheit von Nichtrauchern verwendet werden. Dazu fordert die Deutsche Innenraumhygienekommission nach einer Analyse auf.

Passivrauch von E-Zigaretten in geschlossenen Räumen zu vermeiden, schützt einerseits Nichtrauchende Menschen, andererseits jedoch auch die Konsument*innen selbst. Denn auch für sie ist es besser, den Passivrauch nicht einzuatmen.

Schädlich für die Augen

Negative Auswirkungen des Passivrauchs von E-Zigaretten sind bezüglich der Augengesundheit bekannt. Wer chronisch Expositionen von E-Zigaretten ausgesetzt ist, schadet damit seinen Augen. Ein Review fasst die derzeitigen Erkenntnisse zusammen: E-Zigaretten erhöhen das Risiko für Schädigungen des Hornhautepithels. Sie beeinflussen den Tränenfilm, die Bindehaut und Drüsen im Ober- und Unterlid negativ.
